2016-09-05: I took a taxi up to the pass at Abra Malaga where I was to hike down into the valley and meet the taxi driver on the bottom. After hiking a bit, the "single" trail branched off into about four thousand trails, and I was not sure that I was walking down the correct valley. Of course, it was starting to get dark. I ended up on some cow path through a bunch of bushes walking in a river, but there it was. The taxi!
2026-05-06: Continuing the taxi tour of Peru, we got an early morning taxi up to the top of Abra Malaga. We walked around the area hoping to see the Royal Cinclodes. The word on the street is that people are harassing the cinclodes in this area with playback, making it difficult to actually find the bird. We did eventually see one, though it was flying quite a ways off.
